Influencers and politics – guest lecture from Australia’s divided media landscape

This guest lecture shows how journalism thrives and struggles on a partisan and divided media scene, case Australia. Ms Torney will also present legislative reforms that have been introduced around social media use and products for young people. Finally, her lecture will present and explain why and how Constructive journalism has gotten its own institute at Monash University in Melbourne Australia, and is included in journalism studies curricula.

Ms Torney adds:

”As you know there’s a federal election campaign in Australia at the moment and a really interesting shift in terms of the role of influencers which I will also talk about and keen to hear from students around that in terms of the Danish context.”

Kate Torney is Professor (Practice) in Constructive Journalism at Monash University Faculty of Arts, and the Director of Constructive Institute Asia Pacific. She is a former News director at ABC, Australias’ public service broadcaster, and has held top management positions in other industrues. She is currently on a two months study visit and fellowship at Constructive Institute Aarhus.
